Brett Lee has held the highest acclaims, ranks, achievements, and awards almost like any other favorite International cricketer.
In the year 2003 of the Cricket World Cup, Brett Lee had performed extremely well through out the World Cup matches series. Brett Lee was one of the major tigers in the bowling sector that the Australian Cricket team has had. He achieved a total of 22 wickets in the World Cup tournament in the total overs of 83.1 having an average of 17.90. With these amazing statistics he stood second in the international cricket bowlers according to the World Cup 2003 performances, losing out to Srilankan bowler Vaas who took 23 wickets. As far as Brett Lee wickets are concerned , high ratio of Brett Lee wickets are bowled and LBW's because he always try bowl wicket to wicket .
Brett Lee also had the strike rate being the third highest of 22.68 losing out to the fast bowler of West Indies, Drakes, with 19.43 and the Australian fellow bowler Bichel, who had 21.37.
Out of all the 22 wickets that he had earned to his credits in the World Cup 2003 tournament, 6 were taken in the group stage, 11 during the Super-six level of the tournament and 3 and 2 in the semi-finals and finals respectively. During the Australian cricket team's encounter with the Trans Tasman rivals New Zealand in the World cup tournament, super six levels, he took a total of 5 wickets giving 42 runs at Port Elizabeth. His first international cricket One-day hat-trick was while playing opposite the Kenya cricket team during the last super six stage match.
The bowling speed of Brett Lee has always been in constant discussion and gossips. He peaked in the World Cup Tournament, in terms of the bowling speed. He reached his maximum delivery speed record playing against the England cricket team at Port Elizabeth in the group match stage, where his bowling speed reached his previous recorded value of 160.7 km/h
Being a bowler Brett Lee has also strived to achieve stable standards in batting, in the year 2006 he scored the highest test score of 64 in only 68 balls which was played against the South African team at Johannesburg in the month of April.
Apart from the different man of the match awards and various other small rankings, Brett Lee has also received some of the major awards in the international cricket. In the year 2000 Brett Lee received the award for the Donald Bradman Young Player in the year 2000, together with the award for the Wisden Young cricketer in the same year 1999-2000, he then also received the same award of the Wisden title in the year 2006 ranking him as the cricketer of the year.
Brett Lee has been chosen several times in the best 11 one day and test international Australian cricket by the Australian cricket representatives. He was chosen for the One Day International team of the year in 2005, 2006 and also the test team of the year in 2006 by the ICC cricket awards.
Brett Lee has also received the titles of VB Series Player awards in the years 2002-03 and 2004-05. He has also been the recipient of the DLF Cup Player of the tournament in the year 2006. |
