A twenty percent stake was later picked by Group M.
The team was one of the favorites to be the winner of the Indian Premier League, but it did not even reach the semi finals. The most expensive player of the Deccan Chargers, Andrew Symonds was only able to bat for three matches and then had to leave to play for the Australian cricket team. The captain was also only able to play six matches before he was injured. Of all the matches the team played, it was only able to win two.
