Why the standard of Cricket is decreasing day by day ?

From the beginning of the game of cricket it has been considered as one of those few properly played sports and was nicknamed as the gentlemen's game because of the manners and etiquettes of the players involved. It is said that the most polite and humble sportsmen were associated with this game. Cricket from the start was associated with plenty of guidelines which were present in writing and served as a code of conduct both on and off field. All chances of cheating and ill conduct had serious consequences and thus it was out of question for players to attempt felony. With modern times came the ICC which was the international council of cricket and further supervision was provided for improvement of the game.

However it is said that the players that were involved in test cricket were far better than those who had mastered one day cricket. It is evident from the statistics of the game worldwide that deterioration in standards has taken place. The causative factors behind the decline of standards in international cricket are found to be many by analysts and cricket critics.

The first cause has been the advent of one day cricket, initially introduced to develop more interest in the game the form reduced endurance and skills of players as they were not putting in the effort that they used to in the game. This led to a continuous decrease in the performance standards and even a short term performance was being applauded and respected.

Cricket also increased in popularity but decreased in standards by the endorsement of sponsors as they did diverge the attention of the players who became part of the commercialization and lost the passion and zest of playing for the nation. The former ambassadors became a symbol of uncanny conduct and set bad examples for the ones to come resulting in an overall downhill journey despite more money than ever in the business.
