He then quickly recovered and made his debut for the New South Wales in opposition with the Western Australian team in Sheffield shield match when was only 20 years old in the year 1997-98. He played a single mach and made a score of 3/114.
He was then successful in being selected for the A team of Australia when he was touring South Africa. He won two wickets in the match and was fairly successful until the stress factures on his lower back were re-aggravated and he had to take rest for over three months. He then moved to Sydney and carried on with his career after he has turned twenty one.
In the year 1999 in the Sheffield Shield match at Perth, Brett Lee showed he was back with a bang and bowled against the Western Australian team's batsmen, which was taken to be the fastest bowling in Australian cricket after Jeff Thomson in the year 1970s. It was since then that Brett Lee's chances of inclusion in the international cricket team were in the peak because of the persuasion of the leading cricketers Shane Warne and Steve Waugh. |
