Fast bowlers are an asset of Cricket because without the availability of real Fast bowler , the game lacks flavor . Few decades back , the Fast bowler had their attitude , it was a nightmare playing Fast bowlers like Holding , Garner and Walsh , the reason was that the pitches were made for them , the conditions were suitable for them , they used to terrorize batsmen with their lethal pace , the batsmen were not at all comfortable , Instead they used to get afraid whenever they used to face extreme pace after some batsmen got injured while playing such raw pace , So there was an element of fear in the minds of the batsmen . It was at that time when Test Cricket was at its peak , then the era of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus came , that was also a horrible time for the batsmen , two W's were magicians , they were the king of Reverse swing , they bamboozled many batsmen , even the best failed to handle their swing . Their Yorkers were so lethal that crushed the toes of many batsmen around the world and later that lethal Yorker was called " Toe Crusher " they were awesome , they destroyed the batting line ups on their own . But if you see the conditions now , they are not at all suitable for Fast Bowlers . Cricket is now a batsmen's game . The pitches that we are seeing these days are purely made for the batsmen . Batsmen these days does not get afraid to play even the Fastest bowlers in the world , because most of the pitches are dead and the ball comes at a normal speed . Pacers like Shoaib Akhtar , Brett Lee , Dail Steyn and Shane Bond are extreme Fast bowlers , they rarely get supportive tracks and with the introduction of T20 , the Fast bowlers are suffering more . They are paid to get beaten , the pitches are perfect for the batsmen and now pace is not that effective as it was before .
