The team called the Mumbai Indians is one of the teams which played in the Indian Premier League, and is a franchise based in the city of Mumbai . The captain of the team is Sachin Tendulkar, who is known as the Icon Player of the team. Lalchand Rajput, who was once the manager of the Indian cricket team, is the coach of the Mumbai Indians. Reliance Industries, which is the biggest conglomerate of India is the owner of the team through Ratipriya Trading which is a hundred percent subsidiary of the company.The amount which Reliance Industries paid to buy the franchise rights for the team was around one hundred and twelve million U.S dollars. The auction was held on January 24 in the year 2008. This team became the most expensive franchise of the Indian Premier League. Because of this the final as well as the semi finals were all held in the city of Mumbai .
In the 2008 season of the Indian Premier League, the team headed off to a very bad start. Their captain had a hamstring injury and was not able to play and they lost the first four matches which they played. They were able to win a total of seven matches, and they also lost seven matches.
